i needed an axle and found a wrecking yard ( from a google search) parting an ix out and bought both front for 150.00$ then replaced boots and grease from the dealership.Axles are 700.00 and change each from BMW.
I get mine from a place in town that makes them custom way less then the insanity Bmw tries to make you pay. Ill get there number for you!

how much did you pay, do they make ones stronger than stock?

The rear axles are the same. I'm pretty sure he was looking for front axles since he specified it being for an iX.

Front axles are a bitch to find cheap. The best thing to do is find pieces and build them yourself.

i read about guys in sweden or finland modifying audi shafts, but i think you still need part of your old IX shaft. I really have no idea. I asked about it once and everyone said it was crazy and more than its worth. I guess they hold up better to huge torque though.

you don't need upgraded ones unless you are putting out 500whp anyway. you're going to be breaking front differentials before front CV shafts (poor maintenance aside).

what about putting down 300whp with mad angle on them?

unless you are going to be doing 6k clutch drops with the wheels turned full lock, it's not going to make much difference.
what suspension will you be using? there's a realistic limit to how low you can make an ix and keep suspension travel. I just have a hard time believing that they're going to suddenly explode after all the abuse I've put on front CV shafts that have over 250,000 miles on them, and my car is pretty low (during the summer anyway).

Slammed on coilovers, I had one brake, When i was on h&rs. I noticed it had a crack in the cage of the cv when i was rebuilding them. Blew apart prolly 3 months later at and auto-x. Im not saying im going to be putting down enough power to blow them apart, one day im aiming for 300whp, weekend warrior, i was just curious of other options out there.

it would have failed anyway if there was a crack in it. :(
