240g trans

so yea today went for smog and couldnt pass because i had no 2nd gear, any idea what it might be? maybe my shift linkage, or syncro? b4 today i could only get into 2nd when under 3k after today no luck at all after 1st , i had to go to 1st to 3rd , driving back on teh freeway i was stuck in 5th ,after shaking it for a few mins i was able to get back in to lower gears. time for a new tranny or just go m20? this sucks bemmer fest is next week looks like im not taking that car :(

Well, you would have to inspect your shift linkage to see if it's broken or very worn out. Could also try changing the tranny fluid, sometimes that does wonders.

M10 5-speeds aren't hard to find nor are they expensive.

i just chnaged teh fluid to 75/90 tega syn., but this all happend after i let a friend drive the car and was shifting hard, so now yea sucks

yup stuck in 5th on teh freeway, then in traffic got stuck in 5th agian, sucks. Think im just going to sell the car now plus i want a 325i :D

260s loose 2nd often as well, kind of a whole Getrag thing.

how much do the g240s go for? i might just pick one up and have it put in, i wanted to sell teh car an get a 325i but idk , how much do you think a junk yard might charge me for a m10 and tranny?

well trans issue will eb fixed picked up an g240 tonight and hopefully with be put in teh next few weeks and maybe a nicer m10 :D
