3 cans will probably do.

3 cans of silver if you plan on doing inside/and outside of wheel.
3 cans of clear coat to do same as above.
If you dont do Clear coat, dont even waste your time.

i have dupont chroma clear..... and i have a sata jet 2000 gun... is there any kind of wheel paint i could get for the spray gun that would make it look better than with rattle can, or are the nozles on the wurth cans relly good?

i have a question about this.
Do you normally unmount the tires to do this? or simply mask off the tires and just paint
the inside and oustide of the rim with the tire still mounted ?

well since i have access to a tire changer i can take the tires off... but if you want you could paint them with the tires on... it would make prepping them harder and in a paint job 90 percent is in the prep work

I painted mine with the tires on.
A good idea is to at least remove the wheel weights when painting. I forgot to do this....
Würth's spray cans are fine. Your finger will go numb and weak from holding down the nozzle though.

i was thinking as much.... tomorrow ima go to R and R my local body shop and ask what they use to refinish wheels.... i would much rather use a paint gun if possible.... but thanks for all of your input

For those of you who have repainted with Würth, did you have any curb rash to contend with? If so how did you address it? Dremel to smooth it or what?

Dremel rocks.

I know Dremel's rock, but do you use that to clean up curb damage?

Simple file, a flat fine and a flat bastard file. Followed up with sand paper. Practice makes perfect.

i wish i took pics of the wheels before i painted them... i bought them from lowlevel e30.... i think he has pics..... if you read this please post a pic of one of the wheels....
i ended up painting them with dupont chroma base paint with vari prime primer and aluminum conversion coat..... you can see the aftermath here

painting basketweaves is not easy, and neither is bead blasting them.... but i think it was worth it

It took me 4 hours to paint the wheels. That was with waiting for the paint to dry before applying clear coat.
I cleaned them with a scotch brite pad and Costal Power Clean. Wipe down with acetone and paint.
Würth Silver Spray Paint, and Würth clear coat.

I had just washed them, so its water on the wheels, not holes or deep gouges. There is some minor curb rash I chose not to clean up.
Its really easy to do.
