Suspension upgrade woes.

sorry to crosspost, but bmwguy's post made me weary of upgrading my suspension just quite yet. I was hoping to get some koni's and IE stage iii's and throw em on and be good for awhile, but he brought up that i'd have to replace tons of other stuff as well as quickly as possible.. How much truth is there to this?

dont be scared. He's right about the Jstocks, they will tear your car apart. However, more street oriented setups will be fine. Sure you'll need to upgrade bushings and such, but you'll need to do that anyways eventually. You'll be fine with just springs/shocks/RSMs, especially if you're only street driving.

i'm sorry, but what are J-stocks?

i was planning on getting IE stage iii's and koni adjustables.. but i'm not sure what all is involved in replacing them, or what else i need for the project. I want to learn of course.. Will that setup still be ok without replacing my whole subframe and what not? I will do it eventually, but don't have the money for that much stuff right now

you don't have to replace your whole subframe.. you're reading into those posts too much. they were probably talking about bushings.

you could get away with just doing springs/shocks for now, but with stage 3's and konis, you're really going to want to do all the bushings. I'd rather do it all at once to save time and effort, even if it meant that I had to drive around in 4x4 mode for 6 months.

lol I said to check them for balljoint play and replace if needed, I replaced mine cause the damn adjustment screw was rusted to shit and back.
