I am interested in knowing if anyone would be interested in a Fall Cruz... whether it is in Washington or Oregon doesnt matter to me.... let me know what you guys think

Hwy 101?

e30bimmerdude
09-26-2005, 04:32 PM
that could be a cool trip down the coast... Where would we meet (Wa/Or) and i figured if we do that drive Cannon beach or long beach or somewhere inbetween would be a good stop.... There is also the North Cascades Highway in Washington which has alot of good twisties and great places to stop and take some pics... Any ideas are welcome. Thanks fellas

I'm interested, one last hurrah before the winter and my car goes into storage would be fun.

ya, I would love to join in a drive, my swap should pretty much be done this weekend and its looking like I will have a driveable car.

09-26-2005, 05:46 PM
Cool well i have to replace my clutch and fix a nice oil leak that occured after my 325i intake mani/ t/b swap but after that i should be golden so why dont we plan this for say early Oct... Any more ideas on where to go?

09-26-2005, 05:56 PM
I'm down if I don't gotta work. Just a word of advise, if you want more people keep it more north. A lot of the guys from the Seattle area are babies (*cough*Kruzen*cough*) about gas and time.

Mot
09-26-2005, 06:36 PM
ya not like many oregon guys will bother to show, the few who are are willing to drive... Although something near the vancover portland area would be sweet.

e30bimmerdude
09-26-2005, 08:05 PM
well maybe somewhere in between, becuase i have heard the Oregon folks talk about not wanting to drive as well as the Washington folks, but for those interested in one last parade of e30's it shouldnt matter because it is about fun and im sure that you can spare an extra $30 to fill ur tanks...maybe thats just me... It would be fun to all meet up somewhere maybe Chehalis or somewhere in that area, but from there i dont know where to go as i know the north part of WA... maybe Mt.St Helens.... i dont know how far that is but it would be cool none the less..... any ideas fellas

Nathan
09-26-2005, 10:04 PM
Mount St. Helens is a bit of a drive, like 1 1/2 hrs, I think from Portland, I know that means its like 4+ hours for Josh (Eurospeed88). I would like do do something and I think St. Helens might be close enough for most. Don't Know... Any other suggestions?

Are there any cool highways through the Olympic National Forest in WA?

cheades
09-27-2005, 07:05 AM
There is a loop around the Olympics next month that is being put on by some BMW people. You could plan it along with that so it would be a big group.

This sounds like a good idea, lets pick somewhere scenic. Highway 101 sounds good.

e30bimmerdude
09-27-2005, 09:03 AM
That sounds good to me, i am from that side of WA and there are plenty of great roads and scenic spots to make stops.... we mise well get some e36's and others to make this a great showing of BMW's.... Cheades do you know who is putting on the cruz through the Olympics, if so maybe contact them and we can merge into one large group.... Thanks for the interest fellas this should be fun...

ya last time I did a drive with dtm, I almost died like 3-4 different times.... Between getting passed in the breakdown lane at 100+ speeds and watching them pass R.V.'s around blind corners... I dont think I wanna be associated with that kinda thing.... I'm not trying to r3v my car on its first cruise.

cramer
09-27-2005, 11:36 AM
I understand what you're saying, DTM does drive crazy, however they claim this one is a road rule abiding one... so we'll see. I'm planning on going since the loop has been a drive i've wanted to do for some time... and if they want to race, i'll just hang back with the sensible people. No need to get in a wreck or pick up a speeding ticket. I'm going for the drive, not to test the limits of my car.

Now if R3v wants to do a different drive, I'm up for that as well. Gotta get in all the driving I can before the weather turns to shit :)

e30bimmerdude
09-27-2005, 01:44 PM
I am down either way, whether it is a large group with DTM or simply a few fellas out for a cruz... i am just looking forward to getting out for a nice drive before winter hits and i cant drive at all....And say we do follow the DTM group the cops are going to be watching everyone which would be no fun.... but the Olympic loop sounds good...

im thinking mid oct....maybe the weekend of the 15th or the 22nd.... there is also October Fest in Leavenworth... that is always a fun drive over Blewett or Stevens pass...

DarkWing6

You don't have to be the one driving poorly to be in danger. If someone goes to pass me in a no passing zone and they hit someone head on chances are I get hit too. Or if they judge the spacing wrong when they pass people on the shoulder. Personally, I don't find driving with a bunch of people that are driving unsafe fun. I am more scared that I am gonna die than anything else. Whether they say it is gonna be a tamed down drive or not, I am not gonna chance showing up and things not going as planned.

I was on that drive with the DTM peeps. No way in hell should we even consider a drive with them. This is a drive, not a death wish. I was lookin at (google maps) I think highway 503 or something that goes up to the observation place on Mt. St. Helens, looked like a pretty curvy road... Anyone actually know? I've been up there before just not in I while. Seems like a pretty cool place to meet up though. Like meet in some town before then drive up there, take photo's and drive back.

Mot

The Drive to Helens sounds fun... And i am cool just taking a nice drive without dying, as i almost did tonight... Its always fun going for a nice drive passing someone and before you know it you getting passed and finding a beer bottle in you back seat that came through a window..............scary.... But anyways fellas im up for anything....

mid october? I dont know if I cold make it, I wish I could. damn I just got new tires too. I'll jump on the bandwagon and say DTM people are insane in a bad way, speaking from experience. Although I might be able to make it if there is a definate date and everyone is down.

So, is this going down, or what? Last weekend, there was snow in the higher elevation mountian passes, so I'm running out of available "tolerable weather" to make a jaunt up north, so let's nail down a date/location.

Yes, a winter break outing to my beach house would be awesome. My beach house is nice and private and the beach is pretty sweet, even in the winter.

There wouldnt be any snow down here in OR. I promise that one, I will find out when my winter break is and when the house is availabe( we rent it out). Also there is an amazing old highway near by that is no longer used by any one except the occasional biker.. twisties :)

That puts me out of the running. I can't take my car anywhere there's snow, and I have to go over a mountain pass to get to the valley.

E30 on IE springs + high-performance tires + snow = R3V.

I don't think you guys are understanding this. I live at an elevation of 3800 feet. I live in the mountains. The elevation at the lowest summit point of any mountain pass I have to travel over in order to get to the valley is 4890 feet. My car is on IE Stage III's, Konis, and 205/50 Z-rated tires.

I realize me being at a meet or not is NO reason to move dates around. I'm just saying that if you want me to be there, and I want to be there, it has to be before snow starts to fall on the mountain passes. No matter which area of the valley I'm traveling to, be it Eugene or Portland, I have to cross the Cascade mountain range.

robbieosterman
10-25-2005, 06:31 PM
Yeah, I live on Bainbridge. What part of the island do you live on? I don't own an E30 anymore, I sold it about a year ago, but, yes, it was white 318. ever see me driving around?
