    That's sounds like a good idea to incorporate a bolster into the dead pedal.

    Good news to hear you're contemplating taking on vert dead pedal project Jack. Myonly issue is that my carpeting in that location is totally squished. In the the pic you posted, you can also see the carpet slightly bulging out. Mine is way worse. So putting a flat dead pedal on top of the squished carpet isn't going to help much.

    Would it be feasible to design the dead pedal so that when you step on the dead pedal, you're not compressing the carpet. Otherwise, I guess I could address the squishy carpet separately.
