thanks, i am doing an m30b3.5 swap and am going to supercharge it using an m90? supercharger from a super coupe t-bird or see what benz stuff i can come up with from work. i know turbo sizing, but am not sure about supercharger sizing. i would like to have the ability to run 1 bar with a smaller pulley if i choose, but will prob run 8-10 ideally, but we'll see what reality ends up making me run.

from there it gets a little crazy, i am going to blow through the dbilas ITB's i have (yes i have talked to them and they have o-ringed shafts, so i can run boost through them). i am also going the water to air route with the intercooler, using one from a cyclone/typhoon my friend is giving me.
i am going to run Wolf stand-alone for the management system.

i am finally going to get the doner 535 back to the house so i can pull the motor etc out and get it on a stand to start mocking it up by the end of next month.

i read some where in the e-30 tech posting that you had found a way to mount it with out loosing the power steering or the a/c. did you ever finish or attempt it?

any help on the charger sizing would be great too, if i am off on my sizing.

the M90 is perfect for your setup. with my 2.7 liter and m62 w/ restrictive intake, i was seeing almost 11 lbs of boost at the top end and the gearing was almost maxing the SCer out.

If you dont already have the SCer, you have a couple choices for nose cones. Its better to find a short one, in that stability for mounting will work a little better. Otherwise, it kind of depends on what the setup layout will be.

For example, and maybe youve got this all figured out by now, but where does the SC mount? Where will the IC be? Whats the best piping route? Your SC location is going to be the hardest part. The mount point needs to be local and stable. The angle in which its positioned is important too. You dont want a charged line have to wrap around the SCer to get to where it needs to go.

I can continue talking about this all day, but here is some stuff to read up on and play with first.

            Download these calculators.

FYI, I read around for how to set superchargers up and the "proper" design of system layout has the throttle body before the supercharger. I guess it works this way too.

As for my setup, the challenge car has been in the barn for almost 2 years now so there has been no chance to work on it. Hopefully it will be back next month and i get things rolling again.

What are your thoughts with how youre going to do the layout?

i am prob going to mount it on the d/s like you did, and make a simple airlog for the intake side of the ITB's, then run it down to the liquid to air intercooler (i need to get it into my hands to i can do some "cirfering"). i am pretty sure that on the MB's they are a blow through set up. i'll look at work tomarrow. ive done blow through turbos before, and even a dick landy pull through on a vw sand rail, but i have never dealt with the proper sizing aspects of it.

i am going for a m-90 charger like this....

so i will have the shorter snout insted of the 14' long t-bird one.

i am at work surrounded by SC'ed benzes all day long, and dam i love the way a SC'ed car sounds and the instant responce of a SC'ed car. i just want to make sure and get it right the first time W/O reengineering it to make me happy with the preformance.

thanks for the specs too! that should help out

i am going to call our core guy tomarrow and see what he has (that is where i got my last 3 from) if he has any from the toyota's i'll let you know. i think they use a similar one on the nissans too. if he has several at a decent $$ i'll pass one on to you at what ever it cost me. they are usually $50-$75

do you know what the SCer are that are used on the Benz's. i talked to a couple of the techs today and they said EVERY SC gets returned to MB, no exceptions!!!! i guess they are something special and they don't want them out in circulation. now my interest i piqued! i am going to see what cars came with a 3.5 or bigger and go from there.

i'm pretty sure the reason they say to put the TB before the S/C is most TB's will leak boost under pressure at the throttle shaft. maybe to keep from possably bending the butterfly under high boost when you let off the throttle if you are not using somekind of a blow off valve to relieve the boost pressure.
