Meet Klaus. Paging euroshark and Sean!

This is Klaus. 1984 Euro/bastardized 735i/A - VIN: WBAFH710207857676. Manual trans. Went in with a friend. Odometer stopped counting at 259,735. Runs its ass off. I think it may have a euro M30B34 and G265, but I'll have to get underneath of it and take some more things apart (and bone up on my early M30's).

I am paging euroshark because after reading this forum for 4 years, I believe he can answer every single question I could ever have about this 7, even though I have a feeling it has been subjected to some questionable wrenching and possible incorrect parts. If any other e23/m30 gurus want to chime in, feel free!

Sean, I am hereby challenging you to build the best beater 735i. NONE of my windows roll down, the HVAC is fucked, and I have numerous rigs to undo and correct. Let's get it on.

^ WTF? Pin for CTS jumped

^ Whatever this yellow guy is, he has a buddy on the other side without a broken wire.

If anyone has VIN reading capabilities, feel free to run it and tell me things. Discuss/bring on the R3V hate!

EDIT: Before you post, I believe it was hit in the front and lost the bumper and grille setup, and then the rear bumper was changed to match the easy to find US stuff. Front seats were swapped for E32/4, but rear buffalo remains. The dash is all in Deutsch.

Looks like fun, I always get a fever for a 7 with the bells.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

I believe those are for the ABS sensors. That's what those connectors go to on my e28 anyway.

Looks like a great beater, haha.

ABS sensors are white I think. On my 318 the orange connectors are airbag.

Haha no airbag in this pig; just good hard metal, and lots of it. I think I may sell off some of the rarer goodies to finance a properly running car. I have some parts for vacuum headlight adjustment, headlight washer pumps and reservoir, and whatever else I find that I can live without. If anyone knows of someone looking for euro parts, kindly direct them my way. Danke!

Cool find! Unless it's really been messed with it should have the 10:1 compression B34 and G265, so if nothing else you've got a desirable drivetrain combo! If none of the windows are working it's probably the breaker or a fuse. That yellow connector is definitely for an ABS sensor... Personally, I'd just remove the ABS computer or disconnect the power source to the pump and run it the way it is.

Which two pins are jumped on the diagnostic connector?

This should be cool, let the games begin!

Oh wait, shit, I guess I didn't notice you have a euro motor.

                    Uhoh...:x :)

I've got $10 on the E23. Lighter, 5 speed, and of course the euro B34.

Your E32 is pretty though :)

Haha yeah, I think the curb weight is around 3400lbs. The thing needs a tune up but still runs pretty strong. I am pretty sure after looking around that it has the wrong airbox on it. I need the one that runs along the fender like Sean's. Or maybe I'll just do a HAI since I have a few ponies to give :D

The AFM has definitely been fucked with, as I notice blue goo 'redefining' a seal. I know it has a computer that ends in 011, which from what I understand is Motronic 1.0 adaptive. Any better options here?

I have questions regarding steering wheel swappage since BMW's school bus division outfitted most e23's. Something about fine and coarse splines and such. euroshark, can I just bypass the breaker for the windows? I don't see me really needing that. The fuse for the windows runs other stuff too, and all that works fine.

I know everyone wants pics so here you go. I started by pulling the hood and nose panel off, as someone had sprayed them black for... I don't know why you would do that. Anyhow, we sanded and primed the hood. After the primer I saw a few spots that were peeling so I sanded them. Then I broke through a few layers of paint and had a couple divots. I decided to get some paint stripper and get it all off. Four coats later, it was looking pretty good. We sanded again and my buddy decided to go over it with a flat blade. I went inside to grab a drink and when I came back he said, "Dude, I think it just got harder". He had popped up a nice chunk down to the factory primer. So, we scraped...

                        ...and scraped

...even got the woman involved, she said it was fun :D

                        and done, almost

and one of the wagonizzle for fun. He is mad at me for spending time with someone new, but I won't get rid of him... yet. Still fires up with a little coaxing ;)

And thanks, Trey. After watching Good n Tight's video's my wheels are turning... I don't know about 10:1 compression and 270k+ carbon buildup, but man would it be fun to walk Mustangs in a beater 7 series

I got the Jeep in Feb 2005 for $500, spent another $800 on maintenance and mods, and drove it for 13k miles. It is such an amazing vehicle and even though there is absolutely no good reason for me to have it, there is a charm it exudes that I just love. I can't bring myself to part with it. Oh, and we found the 735 badge in the trunk but the area around where the emblem mounts is kinda messed up so depending on how the hood comes out, maybe we will try our hands at smoothing that out. Oh, and wait til I get a pic of my intake boot tape modification... haha I've got you beat there for sure

Okay so we are done painting, just need to wetsand and we'll see how it comes out. I decided to take a few things apart to see what I am dealing with in the engine bay...

I think I have some sort of B34->b35 bastard child of an air intake hose. Apparently I also need that hose that goes from the valve cover under the fuel rail. It looks like paper towels wrapped in packing tape. Ghetto!

If anyone can offer some insight as to what I am supposed to have in here, please do so. I want to hear something like, "Your 9/83 build date euro e23 is externally identical to the US 733i, except for the compression ratio." Well, only if that is true :D
