    RIP Les Paul

94 years old. Les Paul. The most beautiful electric guitars ever built.

    94 - that is a good run.

my 11 year old daughter just got a Les Paul a few weeks ago. And yesterday she was trying to explain why having 4 guitars is not enough . . .

.... each one has a different tone, feel and style of music that it is best suited for;) Thats what I tell my wife (I'm up to 7) and I get "uhuh sure".
The first song I ever learned in a formal music lesson on guitar was "In the Mood" (Les Paul's version) and totally blew the teacher out of the water by wanting to learn that. He was an amazing guitarist and inventor. He also invented a "chorus delay repeater" type of effect (I forget what exactly what it did). I'm going to clean my Les Paul out of respect for him. RIP

Oh, I know the sound is waaayy different than her Strat, Danelectro, or other guitars. I like the sound of the LP when she plays it a lot better.

EDIT: just realized that with the LP she is up to 5 guitars. oy.

That's awesome that your daughter has a danelectro. At least shes into guitars and not other pre-teen stuff.

Damn, every time I was in NYC I wanted to go see him play. He played regularly at a little jazz club off Times Square.. but I never got around to it for some reason.

Its too late now. Truly a loss

                  RIP.

les pauls are a great design (and i have one), but dont get me started on their price/quality these days, or gibson in general.

The saying "they don't make em like they used to," applies to a lot of things, sadly.
