For the most part, yes. Obviously you have to defend yourself and your allies, but that does not explain why the fuck we are still over there.

Here's a thought: These people DO have reasons to be pissed at us. This isn't just random unfounded hate of democracy coming out. Maybe if we didn't go to such lengths to play favorites over there then we wouldn't be dealing with radicals who've been raised for generations to beleive that the oppression they've had to deal with is our fault. We have been a HUGE enabler of some very bad things over there.

This war is about oil, and tying up some loose ends from when Bush SR was kicking around over there. The rest is an idealistic front to make it more publicly acceptable.

It's founded on instilled fear even by your own admission. The only undeniable fact is, we don't fully know everything or why anything really goes down as Citizens. If you feel this strongly, I'd say go sign up, work your way up the ranks and change things or at least find out why it is the way it is.

Pawning it off on past Presidents doesn't resolve where or why we're in Afganistan right now.

Proactively seeking out people across the world who vow to take us out? Anyone who can gain the resources and support it would take to be a credible threat has to have motives more solid than just "they hate us". When there is a reason to do this, there is room for negotiation. If it's a handful of twats with no good reason, as a lot of people beleive, why would we bother. If this is a war against democracy they are trying to wage, then why start with the largest of several democratic nations? Why our are allies so unwilling to join us? More reasons to beleive it is a farce.

no, it doesn't. Part of the reason I voted for the guy was his promise to punch out of there. I understand that the ball is already in motion and it would be irresponsible to leave too early. But I also think the military guys are dragging this out longer than it has to..
