    Whoa, this seems pretty expensive

    Am I crazy, or is $1500 a lot for a car with a bad motor (timing chain on an interference motor) and various dents/cosmetic issues?

    I understand it has some parts on it, but jeez. The guy is super defensive about the asking price and the possibility of valvetrain damage too...

    He could get that or much more parting it out which is probably what he's thinking, but when you're selling the car as a whole it's not worth the same.
    The condition of the body is important on an e30 because in comparison to things like mechanical problems it's more costly/time consuming to repair and if you don't fix it right it's gonna still look bad. Basically what i'm saying is for e30s the interior/exterior and body condition is more valuable than the engine and related parts but it looks like this car isin't good on either end.

      Yeah thats way too much. Always buy a runner if you can. Plus, I'm not convinced of his mechanical abilities if one engine blew up at 111k and he only got the 2nd one 2k more miles before it too blew up. What the hell is that guy doing?

        Not to mention that it's a 318is...Those double-row chains don't just break, at least not til 250k plus miles...

          I thought it seemed crazy that the timing chain broke, especially at supposed 'low miles".

          If it was straight, Id buy it and part the aftermarket items, he originally listed it for $2000... What ever, Ill grab the next one.

            I bought my RUNNING and driving 91 318is for $1000. I'd say he's asking too much.

              my dad had 350k on his 260Z before he changed the double row timing chain. and the thing looked new when we pulled it out. @111k he did something really bad to the car to break it.

                So strut braces, Bilstein shocks, and an "aftermarket muffler" increase the value of an E30 by $1100?

                    The asking price is as good as the offers it receives.

                    No working engine. Fenders requiring to be changed. That's a $500 parts car.
                    A car that needs to be tpwed away is very hard to sell and usually not worth much.
                    Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
