1988 325ic in Vermont, needs head $1500 obo

    1988 BMW 325i Convertible
142,xxx Miles (need to check the odometer)

Didn’t think I would see this day, but financial hardship forces my hand. This is a 1988 BMW 325i Convertible in Cirrusblau Metallic with light tan leather interior. I bought this car in the summer of 2007 with 100,000 on the clock and it was my daily driver until recently. It made several trips back and forth from South Carolina without a hiccup.

About a month ago, the timing belt went, taking out the original head. I had the head replaced with a used unit, which turned out to be cracked. The Bottom end is still in good shape, but at this point, I just can’t put more time or money into this vehicle. With just a little work I'm sure someone will be able to enjoy it again.

Awesome candidate for a motor swap!

    The Good:
New Soft Top installed in 2008 - $600 (Manual Top so no worries about auto top maintenance)
New Falken Ziex 912 tires installed in 2009 - $400
Blaupunkt CD Player with iPod Cable from 2007 -$300
New Timing Belt, Water Pump, Head Gasket Kit, Coolant Return Hose – around $250
Throughoughly maintained by previous owner with service records
Body is in good shape and rust free
    Bottlecap Wheels in great shape
    5 Speed Manual
    Heated Seats, Premium Sound

Not so Great: (Honesty is the best policy)
New Head installed was cracked. Browns in Bomoseen quoted another one at $400
Could use some exhaust work, aftermarket cat, 3" exhaust (they screwed up, was supposed to be 2.5, was free because of that and I was in college...)
Original Paint showing some age, as expected
Drivers seat bolster needs some work

I know I don't post much, more of a lurker, but I will be keeping a close eye on this thread. Thanks for looking. Price negotiable of course
