    260 back seal

Has anyone have a detail procedure and needed tools for changing the rear seal of a 260 tranny?

You will need a thin wall socket that fits the output shaft nut and a torch. A seal puller will make it easier to get the old seal out and you will need something big enough to use as a driver to install the new seal. You might need a gear puller to get the flange off.

Heat the nut until the thread locker on it lets go and remove the nut. Remove the flange, and then the seal. Drive in the new seal. Position it at a different depth if the flange is grooved from the old seal. Reinstall the flange and use thread locker on the threads.

Replace the selector shaft seal when doing the rear main seal.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
