m40 to m20

im putting a m20b25 motor in my m40b16 touring and i was wondering if i could use the transmission and the starter from the m40 on my m20 so i would have any problems with the driveshaft?

just wondering if someone out there had done this..

I have done the same swap many times, but have always used a 6 cyl. transmission with the M20. If you get a transmission from a 320(m20b20) then you will need that specific driveshaft for that 240getrag transmission. It has a longer driveshaft than the m20b25s 260getrag trans.
I am 90% sure the starter is not interchangable.

I would use the 260 with the 260 driveshaft and M20 starter. Just to simplify things.

You can use the G240 on the M20. But the canter is different so the shifter will not be in the same place. What clutch/flywheel combo you will need is beyond what my scope is.

Starter I'm also 90% sure you cannot use.

And the driveshaft you will want to use is the same one that the transmission you use. So if you use the G240, The G240 driveshaft *Should* work.

IF you do do it. be sure to post up what you use. I'm going to be doing the same combo in a datsun. The tunnel is much narrower than the E30's.

i would use 260 transmission on this swap , just there are so few left here in my country so its very rare to find one for sale , so i was hoping that i could use this m40 transmission for this swap..

but does the m20 starter fit in the m40 transmission??
