e30 steering wheel clicking & horn honking???

So yesterday night I was out driving my '87 325is. I was at a light and decided to have a lil fun so popped the clutch and gased it to third. Shortly after that my steering wheel started clicking every time i turned it & started making my horns go crazy and start honk. My cruise control lever just went limp to !??! Had to cut wire to horn to get home. This happen to anyone? I dont know what gave out but gonna take steering wheel column cover off check it out see if I can figure it out myself ...

The answer should become evident once you remove the steering wheel.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

might want to check and see if the wires from the airbag havent come off and spinning with the wheel.

yeah it was this plastic cone thing that broke that holds this long hexagon shaped copper tube with a wire to it believe it was for the horn. i just used handy dandy sip ties! held it up but horn still does not work

Yes there is a spring loaded contact behind the steering wheel that broke. Making it contact when turning and activating the horn. It is riveted though I had to glue a plastic piece back for it to hold. So far so good ...
