Please hewlp a newb to the e30 world (code 1222)

    stomp code 1222

Its running rough, cold starts arent terrible but rougher then norm and it kinda sounds like its missing. RPM's seem to studder at lower rev ranges.
I notice a considerable loss in power. I am given it the same gas I would normally give it to get on it just to keep up in traffic from stops.

I bought some new plugs, installed and no better. I am going to hit all the possible areas for vac leaks with some starter fluid tonight, but im not expecting anything to change off that as I have visually inspected already. Just double checking.

The 1222 code seems to cover a lot of issues. Guys please let me know whats most common and where to focus my attention.

Also I keep blowing fuse 10 losing , gas, temp, eventually MPG gauge, air, and power mirrors.
Where is the most common areas to look for a short causing such said issue?

1222 is a PITA. Offhand the solutions I have seen have been; O2 sensor/heater relay; FPR; fuel pump/wiring for pump; dirty injectors/clogged filter; bad fuel evap system; bad coil drivers/other spark issues. So I suggest start with the inexpensive stuff. I would start with vac leaks (while you are there check/clean the injectors/FPR), perhaps even do the mess under the intake modification then check O2 sensor/heater relay. Hopefully you will find the problem under the intake. Good luck.

As far as the fuse I really couldn't say.

i think 1222 is lambda control. i fixed my issues with it by throwing in a mustang o2 sensor

make sure the plug is disconnected on the left side of the firewall harness (as you look at it from the front)...there is a little one prong plug that should be disconnected.

Sounds like 02 will be replaced asap for starters at this point. Is there anyway to test it?

The Car does have a new fuel pump assembly replaced 2 months ago.

Car to lend some context to this.

          Appreciate your reply to help.

Read http://m42club.com/forums/showthread...ight=unplugged for the plug thing. Read http://m42club.com/forums/showthread...ht=sensor+test for testing the O2 sensor.

Its so annoying not having the power and responsiveness that your used to with the car. Thirsty to get this fixed.

Just went outside and the "plug" is already disconnected and ends strapped down away from each other.

So I'm on to the next.

update , still problematic.. I want my car back!!!

Last night I replaced the fuel filter. I was disappointed that the filter on the car was so nice. I also pulled and cleaned the ICV (was a bit dirty on out flow side), boot, MAFM and TB.

It still idles poor, can not handle any fast throttling. If I rev very slowly it will work with me. If I give it peddle its sure to fall on its face.

I havent replaced the TPS, But I dont think that is the problem as removing it while the engine is running does make some difference (raises idle some, revs still stutter) , letting me know its working. riight!

Im at a loss right now... whats left...?

Injectors, possible jump timing? me no know!

Bump - I was there last night helping troubleshoot. Gradual throttle and it runs fine, but if you flog the throttle, it falls flat on its face.

Seems either fuel or ignition related to me.. Calling JLevie! Calling JLevie! Halp!:)

Zombie thread but I am having exactly the same issues, seemingly out of nowhere.
Did you guys ever sort this out?

Well, I was assuming that surely it couldn't be my 2 month old fuel pump so I tested that last, and that was it.

Follow up again, it was not my fuel pump. I realized that the reducer section of my pump had split, so I fixed that, and then it seemed fine, for a bit.

Looking back at my posts I realize that what I am dealing with now was the same issue I thought I had sorted out, months ago.

I've gone through all the Bentley fuel system tests and they all test good, but I am getting this 1222/1221 again now. I have a new O2 sensor on the way but I don't think this will completely solve it.

From my understanding, O2 sensor itself should not create this condition but I could maybe be relating this to later system with upstream/downstream systems.

I'm about to do a smoke test and see if I find anything.....

                            Smoke test found no leaks.
Running condition has degraded to a point where it won't run.
If I let it sit for a while it will run for about 10 miles and then go to shit again.

Although TPS tested good, i have another on the way.

Apparently I've been dealing with this since mid 2022, and previous "fixes" were only temporary and probably had nothing to actually do with the core issue.

                            I'm at a loss
