    300whp NA m20

So my goal is to someday see somewhere close to 300hp in my m20 without a turbo. Ive already got the basics covered: long tube headers, cold air intake, Miller MAF conversion, 19 lb injectors, 272 Shrick cam, with fully rebuilt head with all new parts. Rockers, valves, springs etc. so im estimating im at 200 to the wheels right now maybe?? Anyways my question is where do i go from here?

Hell no you are at 200 rwhp with that setup. Take it to a dyno and and have your dreams shattered.

Paul Burke would be a good person to talk to regarding your HP desires.

It would take a lot of work from a race prepped S14 to even make that kind of power.

24V head, 12:1 compression on race gas with cams to take it to 10k should do it.

Of course, assuming you got all the parts for free, the balancing and assembly prep would probably cost more than the car is worth.

I have dyno'd it actually. It hit 154 rwhp with only headers nothing else. So the cam 25hp? Maf another 25? (So they say on their website) and maybe 8 or so with my REAL cai. Plus my remus maybe another 5 or so? Shouldnt that be close to 200?

My 2.7 stroker with all new internals and 10.2:1 compression + more and your entire setup barely hits 200whp on the dyno. Miller adding 25 hp alone is optimistic but it is a great choice to support your mods where a modified tune will enhance your other mods.

A guy I autox with has a 3.2L m20 that was really built and he his around 230-240 whp but that is pretty much the ceiling for an NA m20.

Tweaked m20's are sooooo much fun, however if you are chasing big numbers naturally aspirated prepare to spend $$ and start with a different engine. A highly strung N/A engine will not be very street able either. I see 290whp s52's pop up for sale occasionally as those motors are built with consistenty for certain race classes where the e36 is competitive.

n/a power (especially from an m20) does not come that easily, nor cheaply.

Well shit thats not what i wanted to hear at all.....im only 16 and well my $250 a week from Papa Johns just isnt enough money to buy me what i really want....a turbo setup thats done right. I dont just have 6k sitting around waiting to be spent. How much are stroker kits and what kind of power would they yield?

                    really? is this 2001?

you can't add power gains like that. also, a MAF doesn't gain you anywhere close to 25hp. maybe 0-3. the tune might get you 10-15 but that applies regardless of how you measure load.

you won't hit 200whp with a bolt ons M20, sorry. that's hard enough for most strokers to do.

Honestly, it's not economically feasible to get that power out of an m20 without forced induction. Just look at what bmw had to do to get there with an n/a inline 6, and you'll quickly see where the m20 falls short.

                        you're trolling us, aren't you?

btw, the "basics" for a 300whp M20 would be throwing away all the parts you've wasted money on so far, and spending about $10k on the head and probably another $10k on the bottom end, intake, exhaust, and tuning. :(

Not trolling....whatever the hell that means? Im just trying to get more horsepower working with what i have and with what money i have.....just wanted to know what else i could do to my car to make it faster. I dont have money for an s52 swap or for a turbo unfortunately. So is there anything else i can do to squeeze power out of this engine thats feasible for a 16 year old or should i just give up on trying to reach 250hp?

No....i pulled my high beam out and replaced with a velocity stack thats connected to ducting that goes straight through the cone then the the maf sensor. REAL cold air coming in.

You dont need to give up. You have done the basic bolt ons, the way forward just starts to get a lot more expensive for smaller and smaller gains.

Is the car a street or race car?
