I FINALLY have some time to work on my own stuff after starting the shop earlier this year, so I thought I'd share my E30 project going on right now.
I have posted pictures of the car on here before, but now it's time to go in depth.
We'll start off with the car being mentioned, my '87 325is, S50 swapped, built from a shell I saved from the scrapper. Still rust-free, wearing it's original paint and all.
It's been a quick, fun car, but I had ulterior motives when I put the 48k original mile S50 in her, so I prepped it long ago.
I built an HX35 turbo over the winter, with an HX40 compressor, custom wheel and a Bullseye turbine housing. Kenny at Killer Koatings handles powder coating the compressor housing and ceramic coating the exhaust housing.
Picked up a Good 'N Tight top mount manifold, I can't stand polished looking exhaust manifolds, so a quick trip to Killer Koatings did the trick with cermaic again. This thing is pretty awesome, the walls are THICK!
Need to see the vitals, some VDO gauges look similar to the stock gauges and will do the trick.
Rally road oil pressure adapter, VANOS oil feed line and a custom water temp sender I made to replace the throttle body coolant line on the head.
Clutch Net supplied the 6 puck sprung disc and "red" pressure plate to handle the power.
A Tial 44mm Wastegate and BOV will help regulate the boost levels.
Wrapping it all up for tonight is the Vibrant FMIC. It is 3.5" thick, cast end tanks and an overall good looking piece. It should absorb the heat very nicely.
I'll get some more shots tomorrow at the shop. I'm hoping to have it going within a month or so, around 500whp at the rear tires. There is going to be a LOT of one-off hand machined and fabricated parts on this build, as well as some pretty neat tricks. I'll go more in depth on what I'm using for the management and tuning later on so stay tuned!
