tightening crank bolt with the pulleys on?

    Hey guys
I'm finishing up my first head gasket job. I've done all the work myself besides having my mechanic friend help tear it all apart. Unfortunately while we were taking everything off he took the crank bolt off. So now everything is back together besides the exhaust and radiator ect. I went to torque my new crank bolt and quickly discovered that no mater how tight the e-brake is or what gear it's in the engine will still try to turn over. I've had to figure out how to put everything back together which involved a lot of trial an error. I really don't want to take all the belts/ pulleys off and wait for a crank holding tool to come in the mail. Does anyone have a method for tightening this? As of now i'm thinking i might have to tighten it the best i can and drive the car over to a shop and have them torque it with an impact or something.

    any advice is greatly appreciated.

Make a crank nose holder. Bolt it to the flange. Brace it against frame rail.
Sit on torque wrench. Discover if your engine mounts are still in good shape...
