FS: Track prepped 97' 540i NEW PRICE

Up for offer is my track car. Started out as a 1997 BMW 540I Sport package.

    4.4L V8 w/Dinan chip
    6 speed manual
Custom "ram air" style K&N intake
    Corbeau Race Seats w/Harnesses
    Bilstein PSS9 coilovers (9-way adjustable)
Toyo R888 w/only one track day on them
    Flowmaster exhaust
Helical style LSD w/3.55 gear set in a Ford 8.8 rear end
    Rear differential cooler
    Driveshaft shot stage 5 axles
    Fiberglass hood
    Lexan sunroof plug

Also an uninstalled JB Racing Ultralight flywheel with twin disc clutch will be included.
Just bought $2300.00 and a extra engine as well (unassembled).

The car is also stripped out to save approximately 900 lbs.

This car is fast, fun and HUGE bang for your buck.

I think I've instructed your dad in this car and driven it. Or maybe I gave him some rides in the pro3 car and just hung out next to him in the paddock a few times. It's all a little foggy, it must have been 5 to 7 years ago though! Very fun and fast car and your dad is a stud. Good luck with the sale!

Does this mean it's been converted to a solid rear axle? Forgive my newb-ness, but I've never heard of an IRS Ford 8.8.

I remember meeting him at the track a few years ago, this car is sweet.

As far as the rear differential goes, I am going to guess the subframe has been modified to accept a ford 8.8. some of the big power guys will do this for e36's.

            Very minimal modifications but, yeah.

And Ford did make a IRS 8.8, I think it maybe came out of an Explorer? Don't quote me on that.

Also one thing he forgot to mention, the axle which were custom made to accept ford one side and bmw on the other side. The outer joints are actually e46 m3 gtr joints which is kind of cool.

I always wondered what my 540i would be like if I stripped all the dead weight. These cars are quick as-is and I can believe there was a lot of weight to get rid of.
