    Which covering plate to use?

WIth my M50 swap do I need the M50 covering plate that goes all the way around the oil pan or should the M20 plate be sufficient that covers most of the short block but not the oils pan? Also will the starter align with the M20 covering plate?
    I'm using the M50 with the G250

How about those that used the M50 with the G260 which plate they use?
    Thanks

Im in for the answer as well...or is it even necessary?

Oh and i believe he is speaking of the plate that sandwiches between the block and tranny. Little thin metal one. My wild guess is that it is the onebfor whatever transmission you use.

For what it is worth, I'm running an s52 with an m20 single mass flywheel/starter and G260 trans. I used the m20 plate, and it's been almost a year without issue.

ohh yeah, measure them they should measure the same, but yes its 100% necessary as it serves as a shim.

the engine/tranny needs that separation. im running m50 with stock m50 plate, others have used the m20 one.

Yes but I think it depends not on motor but on the trans. I am assuming you are running a zf?

I am running an s52 dust shield ("covering plate") with a g260, s52 clutch kit, and starter.

Maybe then it depends on starter specifically. I wonder if holes are different. Anyway im gonna compare both in about two weeks when i do my swap. Woot.
