Single filament bulbs? (& headlight problem)

Hi, quick question(s) for anyone with a moment.

Canadian e30's have the pain-in-the-ass DRL "issue", I don't mind pulling my switch out a notch but my indicator/parking front lights stay on when the key is in the ignition. Took the covers off and I noticed they're dual filament bulbs, I assume the american ones are single? Does anyone know if it can be swapped without causing short/longterm issues?

Also.. My high-beam switch seems to only work when pulled toward myself, pushing it away (in 'locked position') does nothing at all, is it probably just the switch? I'm pretty savvy with computers but dumb as a post when it comes to cars, thanks for taking the time to read this thread!

As to the bulbs, one filament is for the parking lights and the other for the turn signals. You can't change to a single filament bulb w/o disabling one feature.

As to the turn signal/hi-lo switch, it sounds like it needs to be replaced.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
