    Engine check light

Was wondering if anybody could let me use their check engine tool. I have an 87 eta. Has been on since I have owned it in march 2014. Willing to come to you.

Eta's don't have check engine lights.

The 'check' light in the cluster is referring to the check panel above the rear view mirror. If you fix all of those systems, or push the black button on the check panel, the light in the cluster will go out. The motronic 1.0 system on the eta cars does not have any self diagnostic capabilities, so it does note have a check engine light, nor does the ecu store any codes.

Well mine is in freaking German. The coolant one comes on and off, same with the top left on the check panel. Also my cluster is from an I. Cause I had a km cluster while the tach and gas gauge didn't work. But the yellow light is on all the time. And the red goes on and off. Below the inspection.

I am confused, however I have the Peake you can borrow, and figure out what you need to figure out. I may be driving to Everett or Marysville later this week, unless you come over to Bellevue. PM me if you want.

The top left is brake lights, and it comes on every start as a safety/reminder feature. If your coolant level is good, make sure the bobber in the expansion tank isn't stuck. The lights in the bottom middle of the cluster are your service interval reminders and can be reset manually. As matt said, etas do no have check engine lights.

How do you reset the service reminders?

              Edit:

I just googled like every other fool lol.

ok, so dumb question then, what is the orange "check" light in the cluster above the service indicator? I have a SETA long block in a ETA car with ETA fuel management, and that light has been flashing even since I got it running. I have been ignoring it, because I can't find anything wrong. the only light I have on in the overhead is the washer light, because I don't have the washer reservoir installed.

If you push the 'check' button on the panel it should go away for the rest of the drive. If you jump (run a short piece of wire across the harness plug connections) the washer level plug it will 'trick' the light into going away.

Unplug the check panel completely. Problem solved! 8)

Lol yeah I think my bobber is stuck. Cause I have full fluid in my res. I need to go grab a jumper wire when I have time too. Also my car at idle sounds like something isn't firing right. I did new cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Which helped smooth idle. Still something else though. Injectors, or O2 sensor maybe? Anyways. Just getting her a little bit more reliable.
