Getting ready for 24v swap, have some questions

Morning, I'm going to be picking up an 86 325es within the next couple days and plan to do a m52b28 swap. I've got a few questions to ask before i get knee deep into it. I own a 96 328 that was rear ended after i rebuilt the top end of the motor while adding an mls and arp's, etc. So i have all the necessary wiring and parts from the e36 is needed. My questions come more from suggestions,

which tranny should i use, the getrag 260 or the zf from my e36, as far as strength, reliability, drive train, trans mount brace, which mounts, clutch, m20 flywheel & pilot bearing? etc?

since i own the e36 already would you suggest the 5 lug swap, or is the e30's just fine, should i swap the steering racks while i have the motor out?

    which starter/power steering pump/brake booster(e30 xi or e21)?

which radiator, e36 should work right?

i understand if i want obd2 i need to get the ecu flashed, i also understand mostly everything else about the swap, these are just a few questions i'd like to have clarified in a little more detail. Also if there are any suggestions i'd i love to hear them!! thanks!

On trans.....it all depends if you want to drive ex: @3000 rpms in 5th gear or @3800 in 5th gear.

        G260 5th is .81:1
        ZF 5th is 1:1

Ah interesting, I didn't think about that.. I'm going to put an m50 and s52 cams. I've been told that the m20 flywheel and drivetrain makes the m52 rev like a bike, that true? Also what do you have to do about the offset shifter?

the only issue i have is that the e36 diff is open, id have to swap the diff in with the zf correct or is there a driveline that connects to the e30 diff from the zf?

I'm going to be using a g260 with a E30 3.73 LSD and from what I've researched I will be able to use a auto drive shaft from a 96 and up E36.

The 4 bolt style e36 driveshaft from ZF cars fits the e30 and stock diff, or you can use a big guibo style e30 shaft found in later 325e cars so you won't even have to switch the CSB over. Get a LSD diff in the 2.79-3.25 range from an e30 or other medium case car and you will be set

You can alter cruise rpm by changing the differential. Considering you have an eta your cruising rpm will not be very high so I wouldn't be concerned. If you use the m52 trans you would just bolt up the m52 linkage with no modification.

It will not rev up that much quicker. Research light weight flywheels, there is a point where too light of a flywheel will hurt you. As for what stuff to use, use the starter that matches the flywheel. Power steering pump from 24v motor, lines from e30. Use the e36 rack if you have it.

The e36 diff doesn't bolt up to an e30.

gotcha, i understand the difference in the ratios, i was under the impression that the 96+ drive shaft wont hook up the the 325es 2.93 lsd? also i play to use the m20 flywheel and clutch with the m20 starter. as i undetstand it the e36 rack is better aswell.

As long as it is the 4 bolt rear flange driveshaft it will bolt up with the zf trans.

This is not true, the ZF has a larger bolt circle for the driveshaft and will not work with e30 driveshafts. The G260 has a smaller bolt circle.

Ok so from what I'm understanding and please don't yell if I'm wrong, if I use the getrag with the m50 and the 2.93 lsd I'll be doing 800 rpms, in 5th, less than if I were to use the zf with the 2.93? Just making sure I understood that correctly.

so if my calculations are correct(again if I'm wrong please don't yell) if I'm running 225/50r16 with the zf transmission and a 2.93 diff I should be at around 100mph at 3800rpms in 5th, yes? where as with the getrag id be at around 3000? so zf it is hahaha and from what ive read in this http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115724
the "Option 2:1996-99 M3 or 328i driveshaft with the 4 bolt rear flange to bolt right up to the e30 diff."

                            Is this correct or false?

I'm using a zf trans, e36 4 bolt driveshaft and it works fine. I said zf trans not g260
