    what to do? S52 dilema

So I just purchased a s52 with 114k on it, With what was suspected to be a blown head gasket. Well it wasn't it detonated number 5 piston and scored the cylinder wall. Ohh and started melting the head around the exhaust seats, so the head is trash.

I'm not rolling with cash here. So I'm really troubled on what to do, would you do a full rebuild? Try to hone the one cylinder and replace it? Sell off the good parts and find a running one?

I get all machine shop labor for free and would be assembling it myself but the parts for these are rather costly even when just going 100% stock.

Just trying to get some others thoughts

That means whole engine could be toast so you knew what you were getting into. I've seen S52 blocks crack at the bore from overheating.

As of right now both the block and head are damaged. Best thing to do is part it out get as much money out of it as you can. Buy another one with warranty

the head may be salvageable. a good machine shop can weld the chamber and remachine valve seat pockets and install new seats. I would not throw it away with out checking it
