    '84 Hennarot M30 Swap

    Hi Guys,

I just want to share my ride with you ;-)

(And, of course, force my search for black vinyl sport seat fabrics  )

It started its life as a 320i 125PS (non-cat) with automatic transmission.

Over the time I observed that I preferred the sedan over the convertible which I also have. But...the convertible had a rebuilt M30B35.

So the consequence was: pulling the M30 out of the convertible and putting it into the sedan

Nice side effects: less weight and no catalytic converter.

Short explanation, for the ones how don't know it already: here in germany you have to pay tax for your cars, depending on its environment-friendliness and displacement. The less emissions, the lower the taxes. But for cars older than 30 years, the tax is always the same, no matter what engine it has.

So I left out the cat in the sedan of course.

It started with removing the M30 from its old housing:

After that, preparing the sedan. Welding new mounts for the expansion tank, washer reservoir, air filter and so on...

    New paint...

And new stickers for the oem look n feel ;-) I'm not into cleaning like my german fellow sLothic :)

Beside of that, I also installed new springs, damper (Koni), H&R sway bar and a 294mm brake in the front. The back has been upgraded to disc brakes earlier.

Finally, after much work (everything that had to be done additionally...like installing and wiring the electric fan, temperature sensor, pedals and everything for the manual transmission, rewiring the engine plug,...), the engine could be inserted. Quite a big boy...

    ...fast forward...;-)

    Tada!

Exhaust system had to be customized also...unfortunately no more pictures...

Oh, for the ones who didnt noticed: the engine is also powered by a Miller MAF.

Hope you liked it so far...now some pics of the car in total, and the interior:

(I am still looking for black vinyl sport seat fabrics!)

    ......last but not least:

    Cheers! :)

                      Thank you all!

There's guy in GB who reproduces the stickers: http://www.pukardesigns.com/

Unfortunately he takes a break and only sells the left overs.

To my mind the MAF conversion is great. I wouldn't say that you have more hp, but torque could be a bit higher. Anyway the throttle response is much besser and gives you a more "modern" characteristic.
In fact I stalled the engine when I switched back to the normal AMF for testing purposes.
