    I too own an e30....

    Evening everybody,

I'm proud to say that I can finally call myself an e30 owner! As a kid growing up, I loved these cars, especially the M3 my pediatrician drove.

Picked it up from an awesome guy who knows his BMW's, and is also a member here. I'm very thankful to have had the pleasure to deal with someone who actually knows their stuff and is generally a great individual.

So far, I've only replaced the pop out latches (it didn't come with any) and re-blacked the rear bumper. Was going to do all the black trim and the front, but the sun went away and it got cold. I also thought it might rain so I decided it best wait for another day. Here are some before and afters though. I used kiwi leather dye, a microfiber towel and a soft foam applicator to spread any excess and help even out the general application. It's actually a lot easier to do on VW trim as they have a texture to them, where as the BMW plastic is very smooth/slick. After some extra fine steel wool and multiple coats, it took however and I think cam out pretty well, especially considering how many little nicks and scratches this bumper has.

That's all for now! Timing belt/water pump is coming up in about two weeks, then it's time to start having some fun. (well, saving some money for parts, then having fun )

I'll update after the belt is done and I give her a proper wash/detail.

    Nice!

Are you related to the movie? Lol.

Give that thing a good detail and post more pictures. Great car to start with there.

I am not lol. I used to PC game and this was my handle back in like 05-07. Now whenever I join a forum, this is my default name choice.

      I wish I was a cool sentient robot. :(

Amazing the difference makes having the trim reblacked. Nice work.

Thanks! It'll get driven as soon as the timing belt and pump are done. No record of when it was last completed and the belt doesn't exactly look fresh, so I'm not going to take any chances.

Absolutely, especially for high contrast colors like red and white. I found out about using kiwi dye via the VW community and it works very well for very little money, but it's definitely s but more of a process on BMW plastic bits. I think it has something to do with how they're finished though. This bumper actually has quite a few bucks and imperfections, but a good blackening takes away a lot of that from the eyes unless you get very close.
