Question for you E36 harness people.

Where do these two wires go? (the ones with the screwdriver through them)
Im assuming they both go to the large terminal on the starter but I'm not exactly sure. My car currently has an E34 harness so it does not have those wires.

Do those wires mean that I don't need the original E30 cable pictured below? If not does that mean I will have four wires attached to the large terminal once I have my alt->starter cable in there as well? halp

Its the battery to starter cable.
Iirc they both connect to the large post on the starter though I would double check the etm to make sure.
uou can use either the e36 or e30 starter cable, no need for both.

I used the e36 wires and deleted the e30 wire. If I were to do it again I'd use the e30 wire because it's black so it blends in to the bay better and it's a pain to fully remove from the terminal.

So if I just put both of those on the starter and put that single red wire on the right side of the harness on the battery junction then I can get rid of the black e30 cable pictured? That would clean things up a bit and make it easier to fit them into the m3 harness covers right?

Thats what i did but dont take my word for it.
Trace the cables and research the etm.

Open the plastic covering up and remove those two to one starter wires and use an E30 M20 starter wire in place. With this wire, you can mount it directly to the battery cable, it's stock looking and you don't have to buy one of those ill fitting aftermarket battery terminal things. This is what I've done on every car I've put together.

So you removed both of these red power cables?

I ran both the e36 ones and the e30 ones. Redundancy saved my ass atleast once or twice.

Correct, remove and replace with a single E30 starter cable.

Isn't one of these for the fuse box? I didn't think they both went to the starter

The smaller on of the two where it splits off goes to the fuse box on an E36.

Alright, one last queston. One of the two wires has power for the relay next to the SAP/DME spliced into it.

I can't find anything about what this relay is, but supposedly SAP/DME/Fuel pump are by the fuse box, so what is it?

Traced the large green to the coilpack harness connector, so i guess it controls power for the coils? Either way, I just went up to the terminal where the two were crimped together, snipped the fuse box wire, and pulled it out of the harness.
