Worst car you could buy today?

So, my mom is looking into buying a newer car for herself to replace her old Jeep Liberty. She looked at a Mitsubishi Mirage and I had to push her far away from that as an option. That got me to thinking.

What say you are the worst cars you could possibly buy in the current market? Or just the worst cars you could buy in general?

The new dodge darts are just kinda crappy. They just feel really cheaply made on the inside and don't drive any better.

It's too bad, the old dodge darts were cool cars

Nissan Versa. I'd happen to get one as a rental for a weekend while traveling and really didn't care for it at all.

Doesn't it have that horrid CVT transmission? I've driven a few cars with CVTs but none anywhere near as bad as Nissans.

For an econobox the Versa was junk. If your evaporator didn't leak out, your rings seized up.

Coming from an Ex-Nissan tech. Dunno how far they've come though, that was in the 2010 range.

I'd say Smart car or Fiat 500. Had a 500 for a rental when I was in Georgia, and I absolutely hated it.

Seriously, new or made in the last 15 years, there are so many. The list is unending. I am biased though, anything that fits into the amorphous blob category isn't something I would ever want.

my vote is pretty much anything made by the company with the pentastar logo. i have rented perhaps 20 different chrysler products over the last 10 years or so. each and every one of them was a stupid cheap ass piece of crap. horrible interior rattles on cars with less than 3000 miles. horrible ergonomics....... i can't figure out how they stay in business.

i know it doesn't fit the scope of this thread but one of my friends has an 06 dodge pickup with the cummins. his opinion of the vehicle is that the engine is absolutely awesome. the rest.....well.....

Agreed. The Cummins is about the only reason to buy a dodge.

Speaking of cummins, word is our locomotives are going to be retrofitted with dual Cummins engines in a few years. Looks like the old EMD 2 stroke turbo diesels are on the way out. (Not for freight though)

ferrari's have lots of crazy maintenance but they are not daily drivers. unlike the other vehicles mentioned, after a few years on the market, the value goes up instead of just throwing the entire car in the trash when you are done.

The value doesn't go up. They depreciate too.

Yeah, not all Ferrari products turn into investment grade vehicles that are whisked away into collections. There are a number of sub $100k, a couple sub $75k, and even some sub $50k. Haven't checked the 308 market lately but I was seeing incredible cars sell for $24-30k a few years ago...!
