    Cold idle Surging after Turner/Conforti Chip install - 325e

    Hello R3Vers,

    Any advice on this?

    I put in a turner motorsports chip last night and the car started right up, but surges a little at idle and that's new... it didn't do that with the stock chip. Car ran fine... it's pretty tuned up too, so not a lot of old crap on it.

    Any ideas about why I'd have idle surging, esp. cold engine idle surging - after switching a chip?

    Just to be a typical e30 guy, I ordered a new 02 sensor and a motronic relay and I suspect they are both pretty old and it can't hurt. But, I'm predictably wierd about the engine tuning stuff so wondering if anyone has thoughts.

    I don't have a good explanation as to why this happened after you installed the chip. Does the problem go away if you put the stock chip back in?
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      I was having a surging issue with my car before I did my last valve clearance check. A couple were out of spec. Once I had the car bolted back together, it went away and hasn't come back.

      Might be worth checking into.

        I took a really close look with a new shop light and found some small cracks in my main air hose that connects the intake boot - to the ICV valve. The cracks are on both ends. I know that cant' help and the more i think of it, the car surges a little bit like there is a little too lean a mixture under heavy acceleration so I ordered a bunch of new rubber from Pelican and we'll get that slapped in there and it may improve. I got a new 02 sensor too so, that can't hurt... plus a new motronic relay just cuz I was already $100 in on new bits. Will see what happens thanks for the thoughts!
