Broken sunroof part, where do I get a new one?

I've broken a part in my sunroof. I think it's number 17 in this diagram:

Nobody on ebay seems to have it, I can't find anywhere else. It says it was replaced by another part, of which production has ended, so I assume that means the dealerships won't have it?

That's because that part never breaks, it is solid metal, only way you can brake it is if you hit it with a hammer.

ECS and a lot of other suppliers pull OE part listings from the BMW parts catalogue without regard for whether it's NLA or not so you don't know til you order it.

The dealer can search live inventory back to Germany.

You need both. Fixing sunroof can become a fiasco real fast do to all other parts being so dry and fragile.

Thank you so much! I need to get it going again in time for summer. 120 degree Fahrenheit days aren't fun without it.

Yeah, I'm really nervous about pulling it apart for exactly that reason. Hence why I hadn't done anything about it yet.
I'll give my local BMW dealer a call and see if they have it or can get it.
Old BMW parts availability here is always a bit of a lottery.
