New member. need help with alarm!

Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and have a question about my alarm system. First off I have a 1991 bmw 318i that I picked up about a month ago. I love the car but every time I open my door, the hazard lights start flashing. After about 20 to 30 flashes it shuts off. The car will still start afterwards but again, starts flashing the hazards. Does anyond know how I might be able to disable this or bypass it? Thanks for any info in advance.

That's not factory. Maybe a dealer option, but more than likely it's an aftermarket one. The most common one to find for a dealer option was a Hofco.
