    Cruise control woes

    Hey everyone!

Over the past few weeks I've noticed that the cruise control in my car (02/1988 325is) was acting kind of funny when driving over large bumps or potholes in the road.. like it was immediately disengaging and reengaging on its own. I didn't think much of it, figuring it was just compensating for the rough spots in the road.

But tonight was different. Every time it encountered a hill it would do this constantly, like it was turning itself off and back on again almost immediately. Super annoying. On a straight, flat road this rarely happens, and when I have the cruise on going downhill it doesn't do it at all. If I turn the cruise control off and just use the pedal this never happens so I don't think it could be anything regarding the fuel system.

I was watching the speedo and RPMs while this was happening and they didn't change at all. I don't know what it could be. I recently changed all the fuses under the hood and the coolant temp sensor.

I've had the car for a little over four years now and never had any problems and its been a joy to drive until now. Also I should note that I never rev the car past 3k RPM unless I'm passing on the highway.

Hopefully some of you can help me out with this!

might be a bad ground point for the cruise control.

If you need to start replacing stuff, I have a full cruise control setup for sale.
