    FS: 1988 324td Touring - SOLD

    All SOLD for now!

For sale in future, inquire if interested:

    1987 325i Convertible - a great DD, new top
    1976 2002 - being redone in low-spec trim
    1991 318is - rallycross car, caged
(Maybe) 1995 540i M Sport- 6 speed, FULLY FUNCTIONAL EDC and spares

    1988 324td Touring - SOLD

Imported from the Netherlands early 2015, and is a German titled car. Had this up for sale last year, and thought it was as good as sold, but buyer seems to have backed out.

Looking to sell this car ASAP as it's become a chore for me to store, and therefore will consider partial trades or offers.

    Drivetrain:

    M21B24 six cylinder turbo-diesel
Electronic DDE management and semi-drive by wire
Needs a new DDE control module, drives fine without it, but does stumble slightly at cold idle
-working on getting a new unit
New timing belt/tensioner and solid BMW indie shop inspection 3/16
Solid service history going back about five years
    30+ MPG all day long
    Five speed G260 transmission
    Open medium-case 3.25 differential
    Bilstein inserts/shocks
H&R touring specific springs (even ride height!)

    Exterior:

    Brilliantrot
Clear coat peel at right fender and two other minor locations
Several small (AAA battery sized) surface rust bubbles above side skirts
    Slicktop
    Shadowline

    Interior:

    Uncracked dashboard
    Anthrazite comfort seats in cloth
    Nearly new (20,000mi) front seats
    Intermittent headliner sag
    Manual window regulators
    No air conditioning
-have 70% of the important components (complete A/C HVAC stack, lines, etc)
Two choices of cargo covers, with or without dog net

It's a very attractive touring with an unusual engine (yes, most parts are readily available) that handles well, gets good mileage, and would make a great start or addition to any BMW collection. I sincerely hope it can find a new home with someone who can make it a truly great E30!

If you are interested send a PM.

Thanks for the kind words. I will miss the 324 and 2002 if they sell, but it's a good time to move on.

Not completely, but the 320i may be less expensive than importing a LHD touring right now, and it has a very rare option in rear SLS.

And register the car in Cali potentially.

It's the only factory turbocharged E30 that I know of.

question on the 324, i watched the video... is the engine supposed to sound like that? seemed to sputter a lot. no clue what a nearly year old diesel with 300k+ is supposed to sound like

Not a bit, the car was experiencing an operation difficulty that I was trying to diagnose with the help of those with knowledge of the M21 with E-throttle. I wish I had a video of it operating currently, but I will work to make that happen after I change the T-belt.

Generally speaking, the car has a slight diesely sound, and certainly does not idle as smoothly as it's gas counterparts. At high RPM the engine also takes on a distinctly agricultural note. To compensate for those shortcomings it pulls quite well from low RPM as you would expect a 6 cylinder diesel with an itty bitty turbo to do.

The photos and videos in the links are all of the good and bad things that have happened to these cars, without intentional omission. I simply believe that it is easier to show everything, good and bad. I only wish that google had a better method of describing the videos and pictures as they are viewed.

You're a damn hoarder! Give me the red touring, now. I'll trade you for my M50'ed 318is and my CRV.....not that it helps your having too many cars situation.
