New car I bought doesn't have the options I looked at...

Hey, I know I should have realized before driving off with my brand new car but was just to excited with purchasing my first new car lol... I don't expect them to fix it if I wasn't over charged or anything.

    But here's what happened...

I was looking to buy a new 2015 vw jetta trendline + at the dealer. So I told the salesman this and he looked up in inventory and found a few cars that matched what I was looking for. He brought me out to a red trendline+ that has the appearance package and said the price was 126 bi weekly. I took it out and liked the ride so I decided I was going to buy it. The man said he had 2 other colours that were exactly the same as I looked at. A black and a grey. I decided to buy the grey one and didn't look at it as it was the same as I just drove, or so I was told.

So I sign the paper work and take my car home. The next day I notice it isn't the exaxtly the same as I was looking at. It doesn't have the appearance package like the one I was looking at. I called the dealer and am waiting to hear back.

Should I expect anything from this? Its a piss off but I'll remember to look over everything before I drive home with a car next time lol anyone have a similar experience?

When I worked at a dealer we had a salesman sell an AWD car to a woman who said the only thing she did not want was AWD. We took it back.

          Is op a women?
Sounds like something a girl would do and lol at the car salesman who sold a AWD car to someone who specifically didn't want awd, sounds like he must have been the best salesperson on lot. Kinda like selling ice to an Eskimo

So you bought a car without even looking at it?

            Seriously?

Nope lol I was just impatient and wanted to get out of there. I knew what I wanted and thought they would give me the thing they offered. I went right before they were closing so didn't notice the difference until the next day as it was night when I picked it up.

Yeah I'm to trusting lol from his words, the exact same car but different colour I assumed it was the exact same. Won't make that mistake but if I didn't pay for the appeance package I dont really care

I work in the car business and have seen this kind of thing happen a few times. The whole process and pressure that some feel at a dealership will often consume customers.

As a buyer you dont have much ground to stand on. there is really no cooling off period and the car is now yours. If it was a used car it would be slightly different. Now that you have purchased it you are now the first owner and the car has miles on it. Things may be different in Canada but likely not.

                good luck op

                  +1

                  NEVER TRUST A SALESPERSON

After selling cars for Toyota and Ford, we are taught to pressure the heck out of buyers (because we as salespeople are pressured from our bosses). Even if it means lying to them to make the sale.
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

I dont know the laws in Canada but in the US there is a period where you can return the car and get out of your contract, its usually 3 days, some states extend it.

I would go back to the dealer and say this is not what you showed me. Its not like you dont want a car you just want a different one.

I felt a little pressured but I knew I was going to be buying a car that night. I was originally looking at a base model but was shown the trendline+ and I was thinking about that as well since it has ac and heated mirrors/ seats which is a huge bonus. So I decided on the trendline+ and liked everything about the car he showed me just the colour. I was told it had everything except the power sunroof so I was like sweet and I'll go with the grey. I remember the grey one I briefly the first night looked at had those options because I thought to myself this car would look pretty good with a black grille and black door moulding instead of the chrome. I didn't take a big look at it cause I looked through the red model very thoroughly. I don't really care if I got the model with the extra package if I didn't pay for it. But I want the manager to know that his employees are lying to their customers and showing them a nicer car saying its $126 biweekly when really the customer gets a cheaper version of the car they test drove. An apology would be nice from the dealer, but I'll probably safe my experience with said salesman on the local VW forum/Facebook page to let them know about him. Its a stupid mistake and I take everything II do as a learning experience

OP, just look at your paperwork. It'll list the options that come on the car you purchased. Get the dealer to install an appearance package if you paid for the appearance package. If you didn't pay for it, you're stuck without it. It sucks if you bought a car you didn't want, but that burden is on you for agreeing to buy something without making sure you were buying the thing you meant to buy.

I often spend over $20,000 without paying attention to the details of what I'm actually spending it on.

That sucks op ! I really think it comes down to what it says on your paperwork. If it was supposed to be equipped a certain way on paper and you got something else I think they should make it right.
I know someone who traded in a vehicle and got 10000 or something for it on the invoice. This amount wasn't subtracted from the total purchase price, and they signed it to finance x amount of money. Basically they didn't give them anything for their trade and somehow got away with it because they signed.
Read contracts and check your product before you sign.
                              Sorry and good luck
