Service needed near Atlanta, maybe a broken rod bearing

    Hello!

Sad day, I was driving and heard something sort of pop under the hood. I talked to my mechanic on the phone, he says it might be a rod bearing, and I need to drop the oil pan to find out. If there is anyone in the area willing to help, I would like to learn how to diagnose it, and how to fix it. I am also willing to pay a fair price.

I pulled the valve cover, it's not a broken rocker arm, but I hear a clicking noise, metal on metal when I try to start the engine. It's loud, and it sounds like it's coming from the valves, although the sound might be traveling up from the rod bearing. And the engine has trouble turning over, it won't really start. Maybe for a few seconds before dying.

I noticed the sound of poorly adjusted valves for a couple months preceeding this experience. Shame on me for not looking into it. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the problem.

    I drive a 325, '88

    Much love!
