Swap SETA in place of regular eta motor

I am wondering if swapping an 88 SETA motor would require any significant modifications to the cooling system, intake, wiring harness? I know I will need a 173 ecu and engine wiring harness, but do i have to modify the C104/101 plug.

Are there any issues with mating it to a green label manual trans? I believe i have a single mass flywheel and the small output flange.

the waterpump is the later style on the super eta and it uses the 154 Motronic 1.1 DME. The trans should be fine but you won't need the bellhousing sensors anymore. Since you have an 87, it's mostly plug and play except for a couple of pins IIRC.

can i use the early waterpump and cooling system for the time-being? I just put a new water pump on and I am not sure the routing is the same to the radiator between early/late model.

It's not the same routing. You'd have to rig something up to try to get it to work.

You can use an eta water pump on a super-eta engine and I can't see any reason why you can't keep your whole cooling system as-is. The 1987 325i car is set up this way.

Oops I misread what was written. Yes of course you can use the early water pump. The old cooling system is fine.
