    Parting out/for sale: 1990 BMW 325i

It kills me to have to post my car for sale, but last Saturday while taking a drive out on Skyline Blvd in the santa cruz mountains, I tried to pass a gardening truck when I shouldn't have, hit a wet patch, overcorrected, and ended up hitting the dirt wall on the side of the road. I am very blessed to be totally unscathed, and although my E30 really took the hit well, the front end is still in rough shape. Right now I'm testing the waters to ask you guys what you think my car may be worth, because I really don't know. I'm posting on r3v because I know it will go to a good home, I would rather sell the car as a whole, but I know too that in parts alone it is worth quite a bit. This is really my last resort because I want to do everything I can to keep the car, but with the front subframe damage after the hit I just don't know if I have the time or money, especially since I'm a senior at SJSU and am most focused on getting my degree, to get it back to the clean, well running state it was in. This is my dream car, and I already took the huge risk while in college to pay for all expenses w/out my parents to sell my miata back in july for my ultimate driving machine. I spent a lot of time, money and parts into it, and before the accident I was about to be totally done with how I envisioned it in my head, and I was planning on keeping it forever, so I hope you understand why this is so tough for me. My dad is currently in contact with his autobody guy up north to see what he estimates the damage to be at, but I know it needs work. As you can see in the pictures, it is the frame rails I believe that are a bit bent out of shape, and you can see the lower point that looks a bit twisted which is not good. The radiator got pushed back and jammed into some small disk shaped part (I don't know what it is), and as a result the small belt that's at the front bottom broke right when I hit, so the coolant leaked. The only other damage is the oil pan, it looks like it got a slight hairline fracture and caused it to leak its oil. Aside from all this, from the rebuilt M20 all the way to the rear end, the car is in great shape. I have a list of everything the previous Subaru-mechanic owner did to it, and my car really drove great. The engine was rebuilt, I personally had just changed all the control arms and lollipop bushings, tie rod ends, and sway bar links, and I was about to swap out the front sway bar bushings to get all the suspension taken care of. The rest of the body is totally straight, with great paint, and only one bubble of rust on the roof, otherwise it has always been a California car. It has a new clutch and flywheel since the previous owner swapped the auto trans. for a stock getrag 260 5 speed. It has a magna flow muffler, basketweave O.Z. Fittipaldi rims I painted and got soon after I purchased the car, thule roof rack with fairing, Hella H4 4500k headlights that still work, Viper security system that still works, Kenwood receiver with CD/MP3/USB/Aux, 23% SolarGuard window tint all around, and black euro style heckblende license plate filler. On the inside, apart from a cracked dashS and some stains on the headliner and rips around the dome lights, it is in excellent shape. It has blue carpets, blue door cards all around, newer BMW 1 series rubber floormats, husco armrest, excellent condition tan leather front and rear seats (from an e21 perhaps, always wondered this), a small diameter M Tech 1 steering wheel and ZHP shift knob. Again, it kills me to have to do this, but I need some help trying to figure out what my car is worth and if anyone is interested, and just how much work it needs to be running as pristinely as it was before the crash. You can PM me, email at taymitchell7@gmail.com or text/call me at 530-941-7740 with any questions at all. I have the full list of parts for the car and receipts, and even a photo CD he gave me to show the work as he did it. The car is located at my aunts house in her driveway in the San Jose hills. Thanks!

Update: Here's the original CL posting the previous owner posted to show what was done right before I got it on July 13 of this year.

Hey thanks guys, you really don't think it's that bad? I don't think I have the time or money, wouldn't it be thousands to get it on a frame bender machine to get it true again?

                    Can it be fixed.. yes.

Can it be fixed for less than what the car is worth, probably not unless you are in the autobody business.
