325ix DS length? Possible one piece DS options

Wondering if anyone has done this? I saw a thread over at e30tech and it kinda got me thinking. My plan is to get a 325ix shaft and lengthen it to fit behind my M30 and getrag 265. IF it even needs to be lengthened. ALSO Anyone know how long the rear shaft on a 325ix is? Thanks!

The transfer case is ~18 inches long... so yes, an iX driveshaft will need to be stretched considerably to work in a RWD application without the transfer case.

    Why not build a 335iX with your M30? ;-)

Thanks for the info. My first car was actually an e46 325xi wagon. After that car I decided all wheel drive is fkn lammeeeeee!!!!!! Lol. I'll definently have to own a 325ix one day though.

You may be right, but I prefer my bimmers simple and RWD. It's just so much more exciting on the street.
