    Noob OBD1 manifold swap question

I am getting all the pieces together for an M52 swap into my '90 325iS and have one item that is still not clear to me:

Do I need to purchase OBD1 manifold brackets to complete the conversion from the OBD2 manifold?

So far in my hours of research, I have not seen a clear answer. If it matters, I will be keeping the OBD2 engine management/harness and using one of the popular CCV kits to keep that functional.

    Please advise.

If you get a M50manifold.com kit for instance it has everything you need.
We never run the lower manifold support brackets..

Yes - I will be running the M50manifold.com kit or the Turner kit - will decide soon.

Thanks for the info on the brackets - the manifold is light so I see no issue with deleting them but I wanted to double-check.

I run them because there is a bracket from the E34 that supports the dipstick for the front sump pan. I would be willing to bet that the manifold supports are the same between OBD1 and OBD2.

Very good point about the dipstick mount - I should have caught that one.

The part numbers are different and they look different (have a '95 M3 in the garage to compare) but the OBD2 parts might work with a little fab work.

I hope to start a build thread at some point to document all of this but I fear that my slow progress would be embarrassing... ;)

That's good to know. I am running the front but the back was a bitch to fit in and around the ICV so I just took it off.
Thank god, R3V was getting boring since the ginger kid wrecked his car. - Stonea
