    E30's are never finished.

This is my 325I I have been building up for a while. I've owned it for 4 years or so now..
    original build thread here http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=119486

Drove it around as a daily for the first twelve months and loved it to death. Got it looking really nice and tidy before caving into my "its not perfect" bug.. So near on 2 years later after lots of sanding, cutting rust out, welding, beating and id hate to think how much money it got the attention it dearly needed..

Off to get painted end of october 2015

    as it is now

    before the carpet went in

SO thats about it so far.. i'm replacing anything that's weathered or brittle while trying to recycle as much as I can so its not over restored. I want to keep this thing forever and give it to my son when i'm gone.

The other E30 you see is an interesting story, but in short my dad purchased it new for my mum when she was pregnant with me back in 1985.. Its the car I came home from the hospital in and the car mum carried me around in for a couple of years. Mum ended up selling it to an older gentleman who sold it to an apprentice at BMW Hobart (now service manager)..It changed owners a couple of times after that.. ANYWAY.. I managed to track the car down 4000kms away and 30 years later where I used to live and purchased it off a young bloke.. Made mention I would buy it back if he ever sold it and here it is.. Took delivery of it and trucked it over October last year.

Beautiful paint job. I've always wanted to take a car down that far and put it back together.

Looks like it is coming along pretty good so far! Good work and have fun piecing it all back together. I'm sure it is going to be a looker once it is all done.

I have a boot to hide bodys again!

finally got the front doors done

and door glasses in and aerial..

This weekend there is a bit of painting to do, rear spoiler and door moulds.. Will TRY to do the front bumper as well.

I put a small order in for some new clips for the door moldings + new belt mold seals so I can finally put the chrome trims on.. Plus some other bits and pieces.

Decided im going to tackle the dash myself and do a proper crack removal job without re-covering it while making it look seemless. There are some good write ups out there so Im going to be using bits and pieces from things ive read in hope I can make it look pretty again.

I think I'm about as jealous of that clean work space as that clean looking sedan. I'm always battling my impatience to get the car on the road during a big project. I think I'd have lost half the interior hardware in the process.

so this is a story and a half, I purchased his molding August 2015, with all the other moldings on the car only to be told that its on backorder and may be a month or so before I get the LHF molding. That's ok I figured, no rush. Few months went past and start of Jan I was told it was made NLA by BMW germany.. FUCK.

So I have new moldings all over the car and suddenly the one molding left will have to be a second hand item.. I tried BMW Aus where they were showing on in the east. Sure! order it.. NOPE... not on the shelf..

Thought I would try a dealer search in the US and I was told that BMW in Boise had one, so I called them and sure enough they have one. BUT they wouldn't deliver it to Australia and seemed to make it impossible to get it.. So told my situation to pelican parts where I was told no problem we will get it for you.

A month goes past, they took a stupid amount of money from me for it and after I followed up where it was, I was told by some random at pelicans it was made NLA.. So after lots of arguing with them they refused to get the part for me even tho they took my money happily.. So I was refunded and my emails were just ignored... Told them now I know why ive spend copious amounts with schmiedmann instead of those guys where I was responded with "if you need help in the future please contact head of sales"... seriously?

So at this point I tried contacting BMW of boise again and begged, they semi agreed to co-operate after I said I could organise Fedex to pick it up directly... So that was the plan until I asked around on R3V if anyone lived in boise who could organise collection and postage..

well a top E30IAN "ST1G" agreed to help, picked it up, posted it and it arrived to my door today.

without his help I would of been screwed, so its fitting his name is put on the car. A reminder there are still some good guys in the car scene.

Glad I could help you out! It's always an honor to help out any other e30 enthusiast. Especially when they provide you with a free all expenses paid trip upside down for the favor ;)

I like what you're doing with the car. It's great to see such an in-depth, detail oriented build. Reminds me of Jordan's build.
