Getting the fan clutch nut free

Today the M3 chewed up its main serpentine belt, so I had to rip everything apart after towing it home.

After much effort, I was unable to get the fan clutch nut free the normal ways (hitting a screwdriver with a hammer, or holding the pully with a belt while i used a long wrench.

    So.....

I fabricated this bad boy from scratch today out of some steel.

Just like the one BMP sells, only this one is 3 times longer (give you the leverage and clearance you NEED)

worked like a charm. (dime for scale)

hmm.... haven't i seen almost that EXACT same write-up somewhere else?

yeah... jared (chapel) made that EXACT same thing LAST YEAR out of a hardened steel mower blade

well, i won't make assumptions and i wouldn't expect that you would do it, but if you're posting that on purpose to piss jared off... that's incredibly fuckin pathetic

Want to make extras? I've never had problems with just holding the pulley with a screw driver but I have cut my hands a couple times when the scredriver stripeed and my knuckles went into the engine, or the screwdriver into my palm.
