    The street shark e30

    Well Sunday I bought a e30 325i for $1500
Has a high idle at 1000 rpms and no brake pedal in drive. But has a firm pedal in park. So I'm gonna start looking for a vacuum leak. Needs a wiper motor and 2 tires.
Needs interior parts, like a lot of them. And exterior trim along with a new exhaust.
I will post pics later when I can.

Here's a pic. This is the good side. The other side has a small dent where someone backed into

Need help anyone that reads this.
Have an idle of 1000 rpms. When in drive the rpms will drop to around 700, and eventually the brake pedal will get soft. I have sprayed and sprayed carb cleaner and now I'm out. Still can't find a leak. Any insight on this problem? And does anyone have a vacuum diagram?

I had a dirty iac give me some headaches even after replacing every vacuum line. I cleaned it with brake clean and haven't had any problems since then. Might be worth checking out

          This piece right?
I cleaned it and reinstalled but had to jb weld the metal piece that goes into the throttle body. So I can't start it up for 24 hours.

There's a fairly large crack in your intake boot right below the tip of your finger in that pic. I'm sure that's not the only one so that may be something to check/replace.

It doesn't go all the way through. I pulled it a hair and sprayed with choke cleaner and it never idled up. But I can't post a wanted ad till after 10 posts. So it's on the list of stuff I need.

Anyone else have a problem with only half the cluster lighting up?
I have changed it to an led and it still only works on one side. Would I need a cluster. Everything else works besides the bulb that blew in the turn signal.

Ok so I reinstalled the cluster and now I have a inspection light on. Did the SI board go bad in a day?

After I cleaned the iac, it still idles around 950-1000 rpms but it drives great besides the brakes that I have to double pump every other time. Ordered a rubber boot for the throttle body cause mine is developing cracks.

But took for a test drive and noticed a vibration develop, looked out the window and the spacer on the front came loose on the wheel. So had to wait for my dad to get there with tools to tighten it back up. This is why I need wheels without spacers...

Replace that intake boot with new if you can. A used one may not have much life left.
Good luck with the car. They're a lot of fun, but many inexpensive e30s require a ton of "catch up" maintenance to reach a certain level of fun and reliable.

Yeah I'm waiting for the boot right now. Brand new for $18 shipped.
The PO did a ton of motor stuff which kinda scares me also. Once I get the boot here and on. And if it still has a high idle. I'll smoke it at work. I'm a Nissan tech and this Beamer is a hair but different then a old or new Nissan.

So today I did a couple things.
I jb welded these into the intake and waiting for them to dry. One had rtv that wasn't holding it in and the other had nothing on it. Also replaced all the squeeze clamps with worm clamps cause the hoses weren't tight.

I talked to my service writer at Nissan who use to work at BMW. Said that if these get dirty they will also affect the idle. I pulled it off and noticed the paper gasket was wet from oil and it was dirty. Scraped the old gasket off, cleaned the inside, put Nissan rtv on it to seal and hand tightened. When car is warmed I will give it a small extra snugging. I don't wanna drive it till I get my boot in. But we will see.

I really hope this solves my idle issue. If not, then the intake is coming off and I'll be replacing the gasket. That will the only thing I haven't replaced or tried to fix yet.

Also need to find a wiring diagram so I can run a toggle switch for the wipers. I'm pretty sure the switch on the column went bad due to no wipers and no washer fluid motor running when switch is pressed. But the only way to drop the column is to take the security bolts out.
                              That's all for now.
