Question on Stock E30 Motor Mounts

I see a lot of folks trying to stiffen up their motor (and tranny) mounts for various track applications. What I never read is anyone vouching for replacing stock rubber with more stock rubber. My stock motor mounts are shot in my E30 and I was thinking of just replacing with the stock rubber since I DD the car and take it to the track a couple times a year.

I don't really want to have a bunch of noise and vibration for 95% of the time I'm driving the car, not to mention how bad the roads are in SF.

Anybody have any better/beefier rubber options from other BMWs that fit in place? Anybody here want to vouch for the good ole stock mounts? What about swapping in E30 M3 mounts?

M3 mounts are physically different and do not fit on an M20 equipped car. Nothing wrong with new OEM rubber mounts. The next step up in terms of stiffness would be an 80a durometer urethane (not bolt through).

However, in regards to the transmission mounts, you can run stiffer rubber mounts from an E21 chassis. The e21 chassis only uses one mount so it is made a bit stiffer. Running two of them on an E30 or E36 chassis is very common.

    Hope that helps,

Thanks Andrew, much appreciated. Does anyone have any experience with the Bimmerworld heavy duty mounts?

The mounts pictured in the link are MTC/Meyle mounts, I have not heard of them specifically making their own rubber mount. The mounts pictured may be a tad stiffer, I never felt a discernible difference.

Just wanted to follow up on my thread -- I installed the bimmerworld mounts and they feel good. Not too stiff, not too soft. They are a good option for other daily drivers, but I'll report back if I have a failure on track.
