    Wtb: E30

    Alright R3v,

I have my last E30's license plate sitting on a shelf, at eye level in my work office, that stares at me everyday.

I feel like it is time to start looking for another E30 adventure.

My last E30 was seriously fuhraze racecar status, and I want to experience something new this time around.

This build will be focused more on a daily driver, with torque for easy daily driving (love the torque my truck has, which is my current daily, and low end grunt is now a must-have for any future daily), and some modern era fancy gadgets to bring the E30 close to todays standard level of in-car technology.

Anyways, in order for this to happen, I don't need much (Hahaha).

Here is what I am looking for (I am searching craigslist regularly, but want to put more feelers out there):

    - Something that is as close to stock as possible. I'd even prefer the stock radio. I want a base that has little to no modifications, so little has to be deciphered as I build the car.

    - I would prefer a late model, but an 88 with big tail lights and metal bumpers with the late model front valance will be highly considered.

    - I would prefer that it runs, so that I can daily it for a while before I begin the build. If you have something with a blown HG, or a busted transmission, let me know, as I am a capable mechanic, and these things aren't necessarily a turn off.

    - I would prefer three pedals from the get go, but automatics aren't out of the question either.

    - Color isn't too big of a concern as well. I have an HVLP painting system, and wouldn't mind learning more about painting cars (I have painted random bumpers and such, but never a whole car) and will be repainting whatever car I purchase. Therefore, paint condition isn't a top priority.

    - I want a coupe. Going to say no to any sedan, as the front doors simply aren't wide enough for my tastes. Sedan doors always looked a bit too stubby to me.

    - I want a full, clean interior. Tracking down a clean interior for me, due to where I live, is tricky. Would prefer houndstooth sport seats, but clean black/tan sport interiors are almost as good.

    - I'd like power everything, and a 13 button OBC.

    Things I do NOT want:

    - I do not want a super clean, top of the line example of an E30. This car will be getting modified, and I don't want to disrupt/tarnish/remove a highly clean example from the world. I'd much rather work with an old 88-89 bronzit auto that an old lady has been driving but not taking care of, that would easily be overlooked by someone.

    - Anything with rust. I want this E30 to be around for a while, so anything other than light surface rust is a no-go for me.

    - No salvage titles, as I don't want to deal with any surprises down the line.

    - Nothing heavily modified. No previous track cars, or cars that are on the path to becoming track cars. No body kits/crazy/custom exterior or interior work.

Basically I am looking for a run of the mill E30, with nothing too fancy, apart from being mostly stock. I am not looking for that unicorn, perfectly maintained with full service history, low mileage, excellent paint and interior E30, that is for sale for 8-10k.

I live in Flagstaff, AZ (couple hours north of Phoenix). I am willing to drive and trailer home an E30 from somewhere in the southwest. I'll probably avoid shipping any E30 from the northwest just due to potential rust/I can't see the car before purchase.

Definitely not expecting this to be a quick search. I will have questions for the seller as I am not a huge fan of driving 8 hours one way without all the detail I need from the seller beforehand. I do not want to spend more than 4-5k for an E30, as I am not looking for the unicorn example that I mentioned above. Just a good, solid, basic base to start an epic build from.

If you have made it this far, thank you for reading my long WTB ad. I always end up typing way more than I need to here on R3v.

Send me a PM or post a link to the car here in this thread.

    Thanks again.

    - Mike

Car was sold last night. A young man named Andrew is currently driving it from Arizona to Virginia.

For all that are curious, the car sold for 2,000 USD.

dang and I was hoping to see this again at D4C this year! Never got a chance to talk to you about the car. Have any dyno numbers?

I like that the D4C sticker was still on it.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

That's a far cry from the original asking price of $16,000.
