New forum member from the bay area and just picked up a 1991 318is... after searching for the right e30 for about 4 months.
I am new to BMW/e30s... have more experience with classic american cars. Just sold my 1966 Chevy C10 last year, and have had others (1952 Ford Victoria, 1962 Ford Falcon, 1964 Ford Falcon).
Wanted something totally different (something that handled better then a refrigerator).
This 318is has been pretty much been sitting for 2 years so planning a full tune up (plugs, fluids, Water pump, thermostat, ect.)(deal with missing belts for power steering and AC). Drove it 45 min home and drove nice, engine sounded smooth, shifted fantastic although very stiff suspension. Engine is stock (plus chip and fan delete.. not sure I trust that) but suspension has been upgraded.
My plan is:
- Tune up
- Replace cone filter with stock airbox (already ordered)
- New wheels/tires (current ones I feel look too large 17") move to a 15x8 225/50 (I think)
- Remove tint
- Install 4.10 lsd (current is open 4.10)
- Clear coat is peeling on the paint and although I dont really care the girlfriend has already complained about how the paint looks. So maybe a freshen up of the paint.
Anyway look forward to meeting some others on here and members in the Bay Area. - Jesse
(I hope I posted this in the right area. I didn't see a "New Members" thread)
