86 325e Need some body advice

Currently my 325e is developing a bit of rust in the usual areas, it wasn't to bad when I picked it up last year. It's a euro sedan and in very good shape otherwise so its something I'd like to fix for sure.

The most major area that needs attention is right in front of the drivers side rear wheel. I'm not sure how I should go about this? I'd like to tackle it myself, I have access a good mig welder which I use on a daily basis, but as far as bending patchs and stuff or what thickness steel it comes to I have no idea.

As far as other rust goes its mostly just bottoms of my doors and a bit on front fenders. I plan to wire wheel the shit out of the bubbled areas and make sure they are super clean. Thinking I could spot weld the areas to build it back up then fill sand and prime. Then I'm not sure what to do about paint as its early alpineweiss 1 and single stage paint? I know its possible to get cans of single stage.

The first picture is drivers side fender, I'm probably going to remove to make working on it flat way easier. I was quoted at 1500$ for spot repairs, but that was just from pictures, the place has done other bmw's before but they aren't really into rust repair. Any advice you guys have to offer I'd appreciate.

I have rust in the same areas as you, not quite as bad yet but I do have a hole in the passenger side floor about the size of my fist where that faux jack point looking thing is/was. I have clean bedside panels from my 79 ford truck bed I removed. I plan on using that material for patches. I am planning on the same method as you more or less. Hoping to get away with purchasing any panels since I am catching it early. But once you start digging into rust you never know how it is going to go!!
My car is a driver and will never be a show car so I am just going for presentable and durable.
