'87 325is bucking at freeway speeds

So as I was coming home from work tonight, and I stopped on the side of the freeway to help someone out. When re-entering onto the freeway, I got on the car pretty hard, which I haven't done in awhile. Shortly after, my car began to randomly buck at freeway speeds. It seemed to get worse the higher the RPM or load that I had on the engine. No CEL would pop up. It ran fine on city streets to and from the freeway. But when on the freeway, car would lose power for a split second, I could visibly see the rpm's drop by about 100 or so and feel the loss of power.

Tomorrow I'm going to check the plugs and wires and also the cps. Any other ideas on what it could be?

Check your fuel delivery circuit pressure while you're in there, Last time I experienced these symptoms it was a fuel pump on its way out.

Wires and cables seemed fine. Wasn't able to check fuel pressure before work today but I don't think that's it.

I can run it up to redline at WOT and it runs fine. It also runs fine in any other gear but 5th. I was in 2nd-4th in the same rpm range that it was happening in 5th and it ran flawlessly. Tried it with the brake depressed to simulate load on the engine and it still ran fine. But on the highway in 5th gear, it began cutting out/bucking. I'm lost.

Replace your CPS, just to be sure.
