Ignition housing / wheel lock problem

My ignition is becoming a progressively worse PITA. The sprung nylon sleeve on the lock cylinder broke a while back and I couldn't use the key to start the car. At that point, I started using the key to unlock the wheel and a screwdriver directly at the ignition switch to start and turn off.

I finally bought a new key and tumbler combo and went to put it in. Popped it in without issue, and the car started and turned off without issue. BUT, the steering wheel lock wouldn't engage.

Then my mistake. I went deeper instead of leaving well enough alone. I go peaking inside the ignition housing. The pin w/ spring that turns the ignition switch and also works the steering lock pops out. It came out in several pieces... rod, spring, some sort of retention clip. Looks like it should have been a complete assembly and not in pieces.

Does anyone know how the inside of the ignition housing works, vis a vis the wheel lock? Or if there is repairable.

Second, if I buy a new ignition housing, like the one below, does it include the rod assembly that operates the ignition switch? Can I just buy the guts separate?

    Thanks for any help.
