    RPM Drop at constant throttle

Went to pick car up at shop yesterday and despite them saying it was running well last week, it has a strange problem.

At idle it sounds fine. When you go to drive, and apply a constant mid throttle, the RPMs go up as normal, but then have a hard cut off, then come back up to normal, then have a hard cutoff, and then come right back... Without changing position of my foot, it sounds like someone revving the car up and down.

Their first thought was vacuum leak, but given how had the cut off was, it seemed electrical... It wasn't really stumbling, engine sounds fine wile going through this routine, just not sticking with what the throttle cable is calling for.

Oh, and the red check engine light came on.

    Ideas?

Almost sounds like what a tps would do. You can get check engine codes from the ecu by flash codes.

The shop is now guessing it is the AFM, not giving a consistent signal. Not sure if they are diagnosing or guessing.

        Definitely electrical sounding to me
